This panel session focused on discussing: (1) Navigating Your Early Career and Beyond; (2) With panelists from the polar and alpine early career researcher communities; (3) This panel will continue the discussion stared from our blog series that discusses the challenges and opportunities encountered in your early career.

The 2019 Polar Film Fest has a different theme for every day of the week:

The 2019 Polar Film Fest will take place from September 23 – 27.  The event has received a selection of exciting and diverse film submissions that span five categories including:

  • Ecology of the Arctic

  • Melting Polar Regions

  • Ice through an Artistic Lens

  • New Frontiers in Polar Research

  • Engaging with Arctic Communities 

Watch Parties: Use the “HowToWatchParty” document that details the procedure for viewing movies.  Movies will be available on the USAPECS website at the beginning of Polar Week and can be found at: https://usapecs.wixsite.com/usapecs/ppf2019 

Of course, this wouldn’t be a film fest without your participation.  Be sure to use the #PolarFilmFest and/or tag @US_APECS when tweeting about your watch party.

We are excited to announce the start of both a new Blog Series and Webinar Series beginning this month (May 2019)!

We’ve asked volunteers from various stages of their career and from a variety of fields (academia, government, private sector) to answer a series of questions that address the challenges and sometimes tough choices they’ve had to make along the way.

Head over to our Webinar section and check out our new Webinar series: ‘Polar Science 101’. Early career scientists from polar disciplines will be presenting introductory webinars on their field of expertise for this series. The goal of the series is to share polar science in an easily and accessible way, and promote interdisciplinary collaboration amongst APECS members. Each short ‘Polar Science 101’ talk will share a bit about the early career scientist presenting, what their science is about, and will give an introductor...

Our aims are to stimulate interdisciplinary and international research collaborations, and develop effective future leaders in polar research, education and outreach.
